REELDANCE MOVING IMAGE COLLECTION (MIC)
ReelDance’s MIC is a unique educational and culturally important
collection which tracks the development of dance on screen as a form in
Australia and New Zealand. The MIC also marks the evolution of
ReelDance as an organisation since it's conception in 1999.
In 2009, ReelDance became one of the Australia Council for the Arts'
Emerging Key Organisations and welcomed the new directorship of Tracie
Mitchell. To mark this turning point in the company’s 10 year history,
ReelDance is implementing a long-term preservation and accessibility
plan for it’s MIC, due to be launched in conjunction with ReelDance's
6th International Dance on Screen Festival in May 2010.
The MIC is a significant and continually expanding resource containing
significant examples of local and international dance on screen work.
These works have previously been inaccessible to those outside the
organisation. The new vision for the MIC will foster the promotion of
dance on screen artists, whilst also connecting audiences with dance on
screen culture within an educational framework.
Onsite Viewing Room
ReelDance will provide access to MIC through an onsite viewing room,
where selected works in the collection will be available to view for
study or research, by appointment only.
Future Online Catalogue
ReelDance also aims to provide future access to MIC through a
searchable online database. This database will be a comprehensive Web
resource available to the public, which may include 30 sec excerpts of
selected works.
If you have submitted a work to the ReelDance International Dance
International Dance on Screen Festival in the past and you would like
it to be included in the new vision for our MIC, CLICK HERE and fill out this simple online form!
