An afternoon of big bands, dancing instruction and projection with a montage of dance clips including Australian archival swing clips from the National Film and Sound Archive and excerpts from classic swing feature films. Learn the steps and copy the masters on screen to the exciting sound of a live big band at an event that celebrates the infectious energy of this classic dance form. The Swing Club will launch the festival in Sydney as a free event in the impressive foyer space of Carriageworks. Other Swing Events include Senior’s Day at Campbelltown Arts Centre and early evening clubs at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts and Salamanca Arts Centre in Hobart.
