Dance Like Your Old Man Aust (2006: 10min)

Six women imitate their dads’ dancing in a film about fathers as seen through the eyes of their daughters.

Josephine Baker: Black Diva in a White Man’s World Germany (2006: 45min)
Director Annette von Waggenheim
A film following the career of Josephine Baker, the first female African-American star of the European stage, from music hall star to resistance fighter and racial discrimination activist. Includes excerpts from screen performances in Siren of the Tropics, Zou Zou and Princess Tam Tam.

From Mambo to Hip Hop: A South Bronx Tale USA (2006: 55min)
Director Henry Chalfant
From the co-writer of Style Wars and international expert of hip hop culture, Henry Chalfant, comes a panoramic view of the music and dance that blossomed in the Latino community of the South Bronx from the late 1940s. The film traces the cultural life of the area from the moment mambo burst onto the New York cultural scene to the birth of hip hop in the 1970s, with brilliant archival footage of the pioneering clubs, dancers and musicians. Features Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Charlie Chase and ‘Kid Freeze’ Moreno.
